Privacy
This service tells you the public IP address your connection arrives from, its approximate location and your internet provider. This page says what it records while doing so.
What is recorded
For every request the server records: your IP address, the time, the address and path that were requested, the response status, and three headers your browser or app sends (User-Agent, Accept-Language, Referer). The content of requests, query strings and cookies are not recorded. An IP address is personal data.
Why
To run the service, to find and fix faults, and to protect it: addresses that scan for vulnerabilities or flood the service are blocked automatically, and the record is how such decisions are made and reviewed.
How long
Records are kept without a fixed time limit. You can ask for the records of your IP address to be deleted; see below.
Who else receives it
Nobody. Your location and provider are looked up in a database file stored on this server; your IP address is not sent to any third-party service. This website has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The Android app shows one advertisement - see below.
Cookies
Pages may set one security cookie that protects forms against forged requests; it is not stored or logged on the server and is not used to recognise you. A second cookie is set only if you choose a language yourself; it remembers that choice. The address lookup used by the app (/api/ip) sets no cookie at all. Sign-in cookies exist only for the administrator.
The Android app
The app asks this service for your address when you open or refresh it, which is recorded as described above. It reads details on your device - local network addresses, the connection with its gateway and DNS servers, the device model, the screen, the time zone and the languages - only to show them to you; the app itself sends none of them anywhere. The only thing the app stores is your language choice, if you make one.
The app shows one banner advertisement, served by Google AdMob. To do that, Google's advertising software inside the app talks to Google directly from your device and collects your IP address, the advertising ID of your device, how you interact with the app and the advertisement, and diagnostic data, under Google's own privacy policy. This service does not receive any of that. Advertisements are not personalised unless you agreed to it in the consent form that is shown where the law requires one; where such a form applies you can reopen it from the app, and you can reset or delete the advertising ID in the Android settings. Your rights
You can ask what is recorded about an IP address you use, and ask for it to be deleted.Write to: info@tr1.in
Asking for your data to be deleted
This applies to this website and to the FBC.MyIP Android app (developer: FBC.Dev). There is no account to close: what we hold is tied to an IP address, so that is what you ask about.
- Find the address. The app and the home page show your public IPv4 and IPv6 address; tap or click it to copy it. If both are shown, send both.
- Send the address, and roughly when you used it if you know, to: info@tr1.in
- We delete the records held for that address and reply to your message.
What is deleted: every request record of that address — the time, the address and path that were requested, the response status, and the User-Agent, Accept-Language and Referer headers.
What is kept: one entry in the administrator's log saying that the records of that address were deleted and how many there were, for as long as that log is kept. If the address was blocked for abuse, the block and its log entries stay while the block is in force.
What Google's advertising software collects inside the app goes to Google, not to us, and we cannot delete it. You manage it on your device (Settings, Google, Ads: reset or delete the advertising ID) and in your Google account.
